The Journey of Faith Renewal Church

Faith Renewal Church traces its origins to April 1931, when it began as a vision of Mr. and Mrs. George Foster and their Sunday school class at Meridian Avenue Baptist Church. The class believed there was an urgent need for a mission outreach in the Hoover Orchard district, then the western border of Wichita. This vision became the Hoover Orchard Baptist Church on 12 July 1931.

On 7 April 1943, the church voted on a name change and became Bethany Baptist Church. After thirty-six years under the name of Bethany Baptist Church, the congregation voted on 17 October 1979 to change its name to West Towne Baptist Church. In 1980 the congregation voted to buy a lot at 2000 North Maize Road. Groundbreaking for the building was held on 23 August 1981. The first service in the new building was held on 18 April 1982 and was expanded to its current size in the late 1980’s.

The church grew and declined as so many churches did in the 1990’s and 2000’s. In July 2015 the congregation took a journey of renewal and changed the name to Faith Renewal Church. The congregation of the church struggled through the recent Pandemic and have a renewed vitality to serve God, each other, and the community. If you have a desire to serve God and serve others in His name, Faith Renewal Church is the place for you!
